Welcome to the RAMC Blue BookWelcome to the social programme for the Royal Army Medical Corps in 2023 and, with Coronavirus restrictions firmly in the rear view mirror, it represents a welcome return to an essential part of building our relationships across our professions and units, between colleagues and friends, and across the Regular, Reserve and veteran community. We must never underestimate the importance of taking time to invest in these relationships away from the daily pressures of the working environment. As a Corps that is heavily dispersed, with a presence in almost every unit in the British Army and a significant presence in the Joint environment and in the NHS, it is ever more important that those in the early part of their careers mix with each other beyond their immediate unit to build a supportive community and that senior leaders meet with and hear from a broad range of voices from across the Corps. These events are the mechanism to do that. 2023 will be the Royal Army Medical Corps’ 125th anniversary. So, whilst the importance of these events is primarily about building relationships for the future, they also offer an opportunity to reflect on our heritage, those that came before us, and the lessons they have left us. I would particularly draw your attention to the Corps’ Annual Dinner on 8 June 2023 in Camberley, Royal Army Medical Corps Day on 23 June in Alrewas, and the Service of Remembrance on 12 November in Westminster. I would also highly recommend attending one of the Turning of the Pages events held in Westminster Abbey throughout the year. Please look through the ‘book’, share it with colleagues and friends who may not have seen it, and come along to the events. These are your events, please support them. I look forward to seeing you in 2023!
